This full-day workshop intends to fill in the gap between the increasing incidence of fungal infections and the decreasing necessary knowledge and skillsets to identify these medical important fungi causing human infections. The workshop includes a panel of internationally recognized mycology experts to speak about laboratory approaches to identify medically important fungi. Topics include common culture based and morphological driven methods, histopathological examination, antifungal drug susceptibility testing and drug resistant detection, and clinical case studies. New technologies such as MALDI-TOF-MS identification and other non-culture based methods such as antigen detection and molecular identification are also covered.
