Somatic mutations in SF3B1 have been reported in 15%-30% of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) cases, including the vast majority of MDS cases with ring sideroblasts phenotype (70-80%), in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL, 15%), and, at a lower rate, in other myeloid neoplasms and some solid tumors (PMID: 21909114, PMID: 24523246).
