Submit a pure culture of the isolate to be tested on an agar slant or in a liquid mycobacterial medium. Indicate organism identification, original date of collection and specimen site on the test order. Note if specific antibiotics have been requested. The ordering laboratory will be requested to submit another isolate if a mixed culture is received. Contraindications: lack of viability, culture mixed or contaminated.
