Special Info

The Alpha-Fetoprotein test was performed using the Siemens Centaur XP chemiluminometric immunoassay method and the Beckman Unicel DxI immunoenzymatic assay. Results obtained with different assay methods or kits cannot be used interchangeably. For the sake of consistency in patient management purposes, parallel testing will occur for a period of 12 weeks to generate a new baseline for individual patients.

Clinical Info

The test is intended for follow up of patients undergoing treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma or testicular or ovarian cancers, among others.

Clinical Limitation

This test is not to be used for maternal screening.
