Special Info

Severely lipemic, hemolyzed or contaminated samples are unacceptable. Acute and convalescent specimens should be labeled as such; parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens MUST be received within 30 days from receipt of the acute specimens. This test is New York DOH approved.

Clinical Info

Single positive titers of > 1:32 may indicate past or current infection. Seroconversion or an increase in titers between the acute and convalescent sera of at least fourfold is considered strong evidence of a current or recent infection.
