Special Info

3.2% sodium citrate is the preferred anticoagulant recommended by CLSI. Indicate if patient is receiving heparin or coumadin. This test should not be used alone in the diagnosis of a lupus anticoagulant, as many factors, such as anticoagulant therapy, can interfere with this assay. It is also suggested that a APTT mixing study, Staclot LA(hexagonal phase phospholipid assay) and a platelet neutralization test be ordered in the evaluation of a lupus anticoagulant.

Clinical Info

Confirmatory assay to detect the presence of a Lupus Anticoagulant. Heparin therapy or any anticoagulant therapy and coagulation inhibitors can prolong the DRVVT.
