When this test is ordered, the reflex tests may be performed and charged. All fungal organisms submitted will be identified and billed as appropriate. Additional CPT codes may be applicable for recovery and identification of fungal organisms - 87106 - ID by MALDI-TOF Mass Spec for yeast, 87153 - DNA sequencing.

Clinical Info

Organism must be in pure culture, actively growing. Do not submit mixed cultures.

Clinical Limitation

If the organism is received in mixed culture or contaminated, identification is not possible and would require additional orders.
