Allow specimen to clot for 2 hours at room temperature. Separate serum from cells and transfer to standard aliquot tube and freeze. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

This test can be useful to diagnose and predict disease recurrence, potential outcome, and efficacy of therapy in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Pancreastatin plays a role in human intermediary metabolism and disease and qualitative hereditary alterations in the primary structure may give rise to individual differences in glucose disposition.
