Clinical Info
Parvovirus B19 virus IgM antibody test is used as an aid in diagnosis of acute infection with Parvovirus B19 virus. Cannot exclude recent infection if the specimen collected 7-10 days after exposure to a known source. Parvovirus B19 virus IgM antibody level may remain elevated for a few months after an acute infection. Parvovirus B19 virus IgG antibody test is used as an aid in diagnosis of recent or past infection with Parvovirus B19 virus. Cannot exclude recent infection if the specimen collected 2-3 weeks after exposure to a known source. Parvovirus B19 virus IgG antibody level remains elevated for prolonged periods, if not for life.
