Special Info
3.2% sodium citrate is the preferred anticoagulant recommended by CLSI. If protein C functional assay is decreased, suggest ordering protein C immunologic.
Clinical Info
For use in the evaluation of hypercoagulable states due to congenital or acquired protein C deficiency. This is a functional chromogenic assay that detects changes in protein C functionality in plasma. Protein C levels can be lowered by coumadin, vitamin K deficiency, liver disease and DIC.
