Cytopathology
The Cytopathology Laboratory evaluates large volumes of specimens in a wide breadth of disease categories, including more than 67,500 gynecologic and 22,000 non-gynecologic specimens.
Cytopathologists on the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) Service aspirate and evaluate superficial lesions to provide rapid assessment and diagnosis for improved patient management.
The Cytopathology laboratory also provides rapid assessment for clinicians performing FNA of deep-seated lesions to ensure that an adequate sample is available for diagnosis and, if necessary, ancillary testing.

Cytopathology Staff
Our staff includes board-certified cytopathologists with expertise in glandular gynecologic lesions, ThinPrep® gynecologic cytology, breast cytology, respiratory cytology, and other areas of cytopathology.
Many of our staff members are nationally recognized for their expertise and are actively involved in the teaching and research of cytology.
