Comments from the Medical Director:

A total of 6,984 Cyclospora modified acid-fast tests (CRYSPO) have been performed to date, with 1,713 positive detections (25% positivity). Daily case counts and percent positivity have steadily declined from peak outbreak activity with no positive detections identified among 2 consecutive days. These findings are consistent with waning Cyclospora transmission and the end of seasonal outbreak activity. Given the sustained decline in detections and positivity, this will be the final update for the 2026 Cyclospora season.

About the Data

Data are derived from specimens submitted for the CRYSPO (Cyclospora Modified Acid-Fast Stain) test and are updated daily as results are completed and verified by Cleveland Clinic Microbiology Laboratories. These data provide near real-time insight into outbreak activity but should not be interpreted as measures of statewide or national Cyclospora incidence.
