Special Info
Exposure Monitoring. Category: Environmental/Occupational toxin. Avoid exposure to gadolinium or iodine-based contrast media for 96 hours prior to sample collection. Do not use disinfectants containing iodine, such as Betadine®, during venipuncture. Sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate (gray) tubes and EDTA (lavender) tubes will be rejected. This test is New York State approved.
Clinical Info
The general range of normal levels is usually between 1.4 and 8.8 mg/L (2.5th - 97.5th percentiles). Background concentrations are diet dependent. Workers exposed to methyl bromide with blood bromide concentrations greater than 12 mg/L have shown 3.5 times higher risk of electroencephalogram disturbances than compared to those with normal levels. Reporting limit: 0.5 mg/L
