Clinical Info

Anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody (GAD65) test usually in conjunction with another test such as IA-2 antibody is used as an aid in establishing the autoimmune nature of previously-diagnosed type I diabetes mellitus or in predicting of progression to type I diabetes mellitus in patients with certain autoimmune diseases including autoimmune gastritis among others. It is also used as an aid in diagnosis of stiff person syndrome and certain autoimmune nervous system diseases. Clinical correlation is required.

Clinical Limitation

Lipemic or grossly hemolyzed samples will be rejected.
