Special Info

Hemolysis is unacceptable and is associated with falsely-elevated levels of MBP in the cerebrospinal fluid. CSF should be free from contamination with blood, if possible. If CSF is bloody, centrifuge the sample and separate supernatant from cells prior to freezing the sample. This test is New York DOH approved.

Not recommended for the workup of suspected multiple sclerosis.
