3.2% sodium citrate is the preferred anticoagulant recommended by NCCLS.

Clinical Info

This test is useful in screening for platelet dysfunction, von Willebrand disease or the effect of anti-platelet drugs, especially aspirin. The test results may be prolonged with thrombocytopenia (less than 150,000/uL).
