Respiratory Virus Surveillance Statistics

Cleveland Clinic Respiratory Virus Surveillance Statistics

Cleveland Clinic performs more than 10,000 tests for respiratory viruses per week across Northeast Ohio.

The Respiratory Virus Positivity Rate Report tracks the presence of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza, and other respiratory viruses, including adenovirus, seasonal coronaviruses, human metapneumovirus, parainfluenza, and rhinovirus/enterovirus in the Northeast Ohio community.

Comments from the Medical Director:

This week (11/18/2024) in Northeast Ohio, we continue to see a sustained rise in RSV and a modest rise in Influenza A positivity rates. The RSV positivity rate rise is most pronounced in children younger than 5 years, with ~10% positivity in this age group at this time. SARS-CoV-2 continues to circulate at stable levels with predominantly KP.3.1.1 (~63%) and XEC (~22%) lineages. Parainfluenza 1 and 4 and rhinovirus/enterovirus continue to circulate as well, but are declining in incidence. Consider seasonal influenza vaccination2024-2025 SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, and new RSV preventative options for eligible patients.
