Pathology Insights Video Series

Smoking-Related Interstitial Fibrosis

Presented by Sanjay Mukhopadhyay, MD

Sanjay Mukhopadhyay, MD, staff pathologist of the Pulmonary Pathology service, presents a case of a relatively recent form of interstitial fibrosis known as Smoking-Related Interstitial Fibrosis (SRIF).

Dr. Mukhopadhyay also explains respiratory bronchiolitis, an indication that the patient is or was a smoker, and how its identification from pigment-filled macrophages can assist in diagnosis.

As part of our educational mission for our clients and communities, Cleveland Clinic Laboratories presents the Pathology Insights video series.
These short videos break down information about interesting pathology cases to better inform doctors, laboratory staff, patients, or anyone interested in the field of pathology. Each episode features important cases, methods, and practices that are personally presented by our staff pathologists.
